Pillars of the truth

The church is referred to as The Pillar of the Truth in 1 Timothy 3:15 “but if I am delayed, I write so that you may know how you ought to conduct yourself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.” The church is called to testify and witness to the world about the truth of God. The Lord Jesus Christ, whose is the church and who is the builder of the church, He is The Truth (Matt 16:16 & Jn 14:6). He came to bear witness to the truth (Jn 18:37B). So the church cannot have any other mandate than to bear this truth to the world.

But the church is not the building but Christians, followers of Christ whose sins have been forgiven and washed in the Blood of the Lamb, and who have been made partakers of His divine nature (2Pet 1:4). It follows that each believer is a pillar of this truth of Christ to whom we belong. Our mandate is to bear this truth to our world everywhere we go. Early Christians manifested this truth so much so that all who converse with them noticed something different about them, that they have been with Jesus (Acts 4:13).

Pilate asked, what is truth (Jn 18:38)? And the Bible says the whole world eagerly waits for the manifestation of the sons of God (Rom 8:19). The world is waiting for you, a pillar of the truth of Jesus Christ to manifest who you are. The world is in dire need of the truth because it is filled with lies of the devil (Jn 8:44). The Good Lord will enable and help you to do so in Jesus name. Amen.

As Christians, so how do you manifest this truth?

I. Holiness must be your watch word. The Lord commands us to be holy as He is holy (1Pet 1:16 & Lev 20:26). So you cannot be complacent and live life anyhow, you must be led by the Spirit (Rom 8:14).

II. Meditate on the word of God daily. The Lord prayed, “Sanctify them by thy word, thy word is truth.” Jn 17:17, also read Jn 6:63.

III. Add works to your faith. When people see your good works and conduct, God’s kingdom is being established here on earth (Jam 2:18-22). Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.” Also read about the example of Dorcas and The Lord in Acts 9:36 & Acts 10:38.

IV. As a Pillar of the truth, the believer is meant to be the light of his world; basically shine the light of christ in him everywhere (Matt 5:13-16).

V. Also, as a Pillar of the truth, the believer is required to be the salt of the earth everywhere he goes. Anything that represents bitterness should give way when the believer gets into the picture.

So the believer is God’s instrument for the redemption of the society both spiritually and physically. Therefore, the believer’s voice, the voice of the righteous, must be heard in governance, in business, in the media, arts, entreatment, financial institution, education etc. As a Pillar of the truth, may your voice be heard in Jesus name. Amen.
