We will serve the Lord
Someone once said its not the date you were born, or the date you died that really matters. It’s “the dates” between those years and what you do with them to make a difference with your life.
Every passing day we live is by His grace and His mercies, and whether we like it or not, one day we will close our eyes and wake up at the other side. However, that other side will not be the same for everyone, there is heaven and hell is real! I pray that the Lord will count us worthy of a place in heaven in Jesus Name.
Opportunities come everyday to enable us determine where we want to be after our time in the world. Once the curtain is drawn, it would be too late to change. The time to live right is now, the time to pray is now, the time to fast is now, the time to give is now, the time to evangelize is now, the time to care for the needy is now, the time to repent genuinely is now. It is only genuine repentance that will take us to the presence of God.
Recall the word of the Lord in Joshua 24:14-15 “Now therefore fear the Lord, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the Lord. 15 And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
There is no better time to serve the Lord than Now! According to the statement above in Joshua 24:14a, we must serve Him in sincerity and in truth. The word of God also says ” the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” Ps.111:10; Prov.1:7; Prov.9:10. It is high time to apply wisdom and fear the Lord and serve Him in truth and in the spirit. “And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. 12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. 13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. 14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.” Romans 13:11-14.
As we proceed through the year, we have an opportunity to renew our faith and forget the unprofitable past. Certain things in our lives must give way for us to forge ahead and trust God for greater things. Some things have become dead weights in our lives that must be laid down to enable us move forward. ” Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us.” Hebrews 12:1. We must trust the Lord to help us overcome all our fears and the sin which doth so easily besets us because it would not take us to our desired place of rest. I pray that the Almighty God will give us the grace to overcome all our fears and temptations in Jesus Name.
Grant Taylor is the Head Coach of the Football team in the movie ” Facing the Giants”. He had recorded consistent losses in all the games in the last six seasons, and there was no way he could win any game based on his old strategies. He had to change his strategies and focus to make a difference and win, even up to the state championship which appeared impossible. He began to trust in the word of God. He worked harder. He sacrificed much. He prepared for the rain. When he won, he praised God, when he lost, he praised God. He became very God conscious and the entire team was won for Christ. God Himself showed up for them and they achieved the impossible and won the state championship.
In this season, we need to re examine our lives and put in more commitment to His service. We should get off our comfort zones and serve God with all of our heart, with all our soul and with all our strength. We need to do more than we did yesterday. We should constantly aspire to do more for the Kingdom on a daily basis. It may not come easy, but the end justifies the sacrifice.
Determine in your heart today to make a difference and you will be surprised what the Lord will do in your life. The best way to show appreciation to Him in this season is to give your heart to Him totally.
Do not harden your heart, release yourself, let go and let God.
It shall be well with you.
